Why are we doing it?

Alton Headteachers firmly agree that this alliance will greatly benefit our community and, in particular, our pupils.  We believe that by having a greater stake in training and recruitment, we can further strengthen our teams and create a sustainable future. We want the best teachers and we feel that across our diverse area, we have the expertise and the capacity to provide an exciting and innovative teacher training programme. To this end, we are working in collaboration with the University of Winchester and two other teaching alliances. On average, this might be up to 12 days in university, with the rest on placement or training delivered by the cluster of schools. Accreditation would be through our partners at the University of Winchester and successful students would achieve a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
