My name is Rachel Whittington and I am Chair of Governors at the school and have been a Governor since 2013.
I have lived in Alton for 11 years and have a son who attends the school. I`m a civil servant and have had 17 years' experience working across Whitehall in various government departments. For the last 8 years I have worked for the Department for Education and I believe that this gives me a unique awareness of the opportunities and challenges that our school faces. The key role of the Governing Body is to provide a blend of support and challenge to the school`s leaders. It is our job to work with the school`s leadership team to ensure the best decisions are made for the children.
The Governing Body are all individuals with different skills from the local authority, business, the local community and parents who are united by a passion to ensure that all the children reach their full potential. We work with the Headteacher to make sure the school has a clear vision for the future, understands what and how it can improve and provides the very best education and learning experiences to all. In addition to our strategic role we aim to develop strong links between the School and the community it serves. We are always eager to grow our team and would love to hear from anybody who would like to join us in this important work.
In carrying out our business, we endeavour to be as open as possible about all decisions and actions we take. Information will be restricted when the wider public interest demands this.
If, for any reason you should need to contact me about matters at the school you can write to me and address any correspondence via the school office.
