Staunton Country Park
Puffins had a busy, fun filled and sunny day at Staunton Park Farm. We started off our day exploring the farm in our small groups, we saw pigs, cows, goats, donkeys, guinea pigs, ducks, geese and even Llamas!. We were fortunate enough to see 10 recently born rather cute piglets. We talked about the names of the different baby animals on the farm. After exploring the sights, sounds and even smells on the farm we enjoyed the fun play area.
We were all very grateful for the shade provided by the big trees as we ate our lunch outside. Once we were all fed and watered we enjoyed a range of fun interactive mini beast activities given by Abi from the park. We discovered the importance of camouflage whilst we played ‘find the woolly worms’ in the grass and found out what it feels like to be a millipede as we wandered in a line with hands on shoulders blindfolded! It was then off into the woods for a mini beast hunt! Mrs Barnes even managed to move a huge tree trunk to help the children find out what was lurking underneath.
At the end of our day we met a huge African Snail and rather big millipede! A great day had by all.
