French Day 2018: Famous French People and Places
THURSDAY 5TH JULY
Once again, the children at the Butts embraced French Day by arriving dressed in the colours of the French flag, as well as a variety of famous French people, including Coco Chanel, a mime artist and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Special mention, however, needs to go to Fergus Blaber in Kestrels who came dressed as La Tour Eiffel.
The day was planned around the theme French People and Places. This enabled the children to participate in a range of activities, from exploring French children’s literature, such as Le Petit Prince, to creating works of art inspired by the likes of Monet and Matisse. Following an annual Butts tradition, Eagles hosted a café for Swans class which gave the children the opportunity to use their French for a real purpose. During the afternoon children in Key Stage One were treated to a visit from Language Leaders from Amery Hill School who were on hand to support the children’s boulangerie and marché role plays.
