The Butts Primary School

Our Governors

The Butts governing board - bringing people together

The governing board is always striving to build a diverse and inclusive team that both respects one another and the school community in which it serves.
We embrace everyone.  Our aim is to bring people together, to share ideas and to learn from one another, so that our children reach their full potential.

The Butts Primary School has a dedicated team of Governors. Some are community governors, appointed by the governing board and some are elected by Parents. We have one  staff member elected by staff and one governor nominated by the Local Authority Governor. The Headteacher is also a member of the governing board. All Governors serve a four year term.

All governors are members of the Full Governing Body (FGB) and meet collectively nine times in an academic year. The FGB works closely with the Headteacher to set the aims and objectives for the school and set the policies and targets for achieving those aims. They monitor the progress the school is making towards these achievements and provide a source of challenge and support to the Headteacher.

Each governor on the board has a specific responsibility, eg: Safeguarding; Health and Safety; Teaching and Learning; Finance; Special Educational Needs and Disability. In this way, we assist and challenge both the curricular and financial aspects of the school’s development and the School Improvement Plan.

The current membership of the Governing Board is shown on the attached document.
