School Governors

My name is David Wollam, I'm Chair of Governors at the school. I'm a Local Education Authority Governor and have been a Governor at the school for eight years.

I have lived in Alton for twelve years and I'm married with three grown up children. I'm a business consultant by profession and I've worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for over thirty years. I have had experience of running large companies and hope to put my experience to good use here at the school.

As Governors, our role is to provide support for the Head teacher and staff and also to provide a visible form of accountability and provide focus on long term development and improvement.

The Full Governing Body which comprises all Governors, meets at least once a term and  is supported by the Resources Committee, which looks after Financial, Personnel and Building issues and the Education Committee which as it's name implies looks after educational matters, including the implementation of the new curriculum. Both the Resources and Education Committees meet every term.

In addition to our strategic role within the school we aim to develop strong links between the school and the community it serves. In carrying out our business, we endeavour to be as open as possible about all decisions and actions we take. Information will only be restricted when the wider public interest demands this.

If, for any reason you should need to contact me about matters at the school you can write to me and address any correspondence via the school office. Alternatively, contact me by email.
