Enlargement of The Butts Primary School

Purpose

The County Council is proposing to submit a planning application to permanently enlarge the premises of The Butts Primary School. We would therefore like to invite you to a drop in session on Tuesday 14 June at The Butts Primary School between 3pm and 6pm when officers will be available to discuss the Council’s plans for additional buildings on the school site.

Description

The consultation will run from Monday 6 June to Friday 1 July. The proposed expansion would allow the capacity of the school to be increased to allow The Butts Primary School to offer 60 places for Year R (age 4+) from September 2018. This will allow the school cater for 420 pupils across seven year groups.

A statutory consultation process on the principle of school expansion concluded on Friday 4 March. The Director of Children’s Services subsequently approved, subject to planning permission, the expansion of the school on the Monday 11 April. This expansion would enable The Butts Primary School to increase its numbers from 238 to 420.
