FRENCH DAY 2017
This year’s French Day was held on Thursday 22nd June with ‘Food’ as its theme. Following our French Day tradition, the children and staff all came to school dressed in the colours of the French flag – blue, white and red.
During the morning children in Key Stage One were lucky to be assisted by Language Leaders from Amery Hill School who supported the children with their supermarket and bakery role plays. As a special treat in the afternoon, the children watched the film Ratatouille and had a French ‘goûter’ of hot chocolate and madeleines.
In Key Stage Two the children enjoyed a range of food-related activities plus an opportunity to play the French game ‘Pétanque’. Highlights of the day included a French play and French Café in years Swans and Eagles as well as making chocolate croissants in Kestrels and Owls.
The day culminated in a sharing assembly where the children showed some of their activities. This included a performance from this year’s Eurovision competition in Swans which was all about food.
